New Regualtions for toxic chemicals

H.R.2576 - Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act this week passed on a 403 - 12 vote, after clearing the senate in December 2015.

Other chemicals, with EPA imposed regulations are phlates and benzidiine dyes, both used in personal and skin care products, and BPA. BPA is a chemical used in plastics and resin products, human exposure is usually through food packaging, and is a concern in particular for children’s health as it has a weak estrogenic effect and is toxic in animal studies on a systemic level for reproductive and developmental effects. Over 1 million pounds per year of BPA is released into the environment per year.
